Background:

American Stage actress and producer Lynn Whitfield.

Born on  February 15 1952 in Baton Rouge. Lynn Whitfield had a strong interest in acting and her father Valerian Smith supported her. He was an important reason behind forming a community theater in Baton Rouge. Lynn Whitfield started to gather attention by preforming and studying with  company's such as the "Black Repertory Company" She went on to marry one of the co-founders and her career took off from there. Working and preforming in New York, off-Broadway etc.

Film: One film Lynn Whitfield stared in was The Josephine Baker Story (1991).  I couldn't find much about Lynn Whitfield and having struggles with racial intolerance. However in this film its portrayed well, showing the issues when it comes to female dancers/actresses and dealing with racism. This movie was pretty impact because the role of Josephine Baker is a black erotic dancer who struggles to have her career take off. Finally as it starts to progress so does the racial prejudice which comes with being famous. Which ends her up in Paris were she finds more acceptance of her dancing and beauty.
