Background

Greta Van Susteren, born in 1954, got into TV News differently than most journalists have. Receiving her degree in Economics and getting her Masters in law from Georgetown University. While she came back to start working at Georgetown University, she was a legal analyst on CNN in 1991, covering the trial of William Kennedy Smith and eventually O.J. Simpson. This led her the opportunity to co-host CNN’s Burden of Proof with political analyst Roger Cossack.

Impact

Van Susteren was one of the first women to be able to help host a show in the 1990’s. While working at CNN, Susteren was able to make quite a name for herself, not only by being able to host Burden of Proof but also The Point, a more news-like talk show. Susteren remained with CNN until 2002, where she left for Fox News to host On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.
